First appointment

Are you pregnant? You can register with us now; you don’t need a referral from your doctor. Once you have registered you can make an appointment for a first check-up. This happens around 8 weeks. Use our handy due date tool to calculate how long you have been pregnant. If you have an irregular cycle or are unsure about the length of your pregnancy, you can make an appointment by telephone.

The first check-up usually lasts around 60 minutes. We get to know you, give you the necessary information and establish your personal situation (such as your medical history, any previous pregnancies, and congenital conditions in your family). We record your weight and blood pressure and take some blood. Up to 12 weeks we don’t yet listen for a heartbeat, but we do offer you the early 8-week ultrasound and the dating ultrasound as standard.
