Bottle or breastfeeding
Breastfeeding is recommended worldwide as the first choice for feeding a baby. Breastmilk naturally protects your child against infections and allergies. It also helps the baby grow in the most natural way, meaning they have a smaller chance of being overweight later. In women who breastfeed, the womb contracts more quickly, meaning they return to their former weight sooner. In some women it also reduces the risk of certain cancers. Finally, breastfeeding is always available, at the right temperature, environmentally friendly and free.
Breastfeeding does not always come easily, especially with your first child. If you are planning to breastfeed (or are still unsure), come to our information session on breastfeeding. These evenings give you a realistic idea of what to expect. Breastfeeding is also more likely to succeed when you are well informed.
If you have medical or personal reasons for not breastfeeding, or it does not work, then feeding by bottle is a good alternative. Baby formula is carefully composed and is a responsible replacement for breastmilk. We will also provide you the best advice in this regard.
